Can You Learn to Drive in a Week?

An intensive week of lessons packs in far more practice than weekly lessons over months, and for the right learner it can work well. This page sets out realistically how it works, who it suits, and what's included.

How an intensive week works

Instead of one or two lessons a week stretched over months, an intensive course concentrates several hours a day into a short block - commonly a 5, 7 or 10-day course, built around your availability and progress. Because lessons run close together, there's less re-learning each session and momentum builds quickly. There's no deposit - you book the block that fits your timeline and budget from our price ladder.

Who it suits (and who it doesn't)

Intensive courses tend to work best for learners who can commit fully for the week, cope well with a fast pace, and have some flexibility on when they take their test. They're less suited to complete beginners who prefer a gradual pace, or anyone who can only fit in irregular days - in that case, regular weekly lessons or our refresher lessons may be a better fit. Your instructor will always be honest if a longer timeline suits you better.

Realistic expectations

We won't promise a guaranteed pass or a fixed timeline - nobody honestly can, since every learner progresses differently and the driving test itself is assessed independently by the DVSA. What we can promise is focused, consistent tuition throughout the week from a DVSA-approved instructor, and an honest assessment of your readiness before test day. The DVSA test fee is booked and paid separately at gov.uk.

What's included

  • DVSA-approved, DBS-checked instructors, automatic or manual.
  • A female-instructor option, on request.
  • Multilingual instruction in English, Hindi, Urdu and Persian.
  • A free mock test included on our longer blocks (40 hours).

See our full intensive driving course page for the block prices and what to expect day to day.

Frequently asked questions

Can a complete beginner learn in a week?

It's possible but demanding - a week of intensive lessons suits people who can commit fully and cope with a fast pace. Your instructor will be honest with you if more time is the better route.

Is the driving test included in the price?

No - the DVSA test fee is separate and booked directly with the DVSA at gov.uk. Our block prices cover tuition only.

Should I choose automatic or manual for an intensive course?

Either works - automatic can suit an intensive week well since there's no clutch or gears to master, but manual gives you a licence for both. See our automatic vs manual guide.
